Quick Start
This guide should get you started quickly using Motivation.
 |
Step 1
When you first run Motivation, it loads the default settings (A).
Once Motivation has started up click the 'Connect' button (B). |
Step 2
Next choose a connection method (A), click either IMAP for AIM Mail/IMAP
connections, or POP3 for Gmail/POP3 connections.
For this example, I am choosing Gmail/POP3. |
 |
 | Step
3
Since I am using Gmail to connect, I will put in my Gmail username 'filequota'
into the username box (A).
Note: Some ISP's require the full email address as
the username, so if you are getting invalid username/password errors try
placing (or removing) the @domain.com.
Place your password in the password box (B). All local passwords are
encrypted so they remain secure.
Next, place your full email address into the email box (C), in my case
it will be filequota@gmail.com
|
Step 4
Next place your POP3 server information (A), and port (B) into the respective
boxes. If your server requires a secure connection, make sure you check
off secure (e).
Now, place your SMTP server information (C), and port (D) into the respective
boxes. Again, if your SMTP server requires a secure connection, please
check it off. Some email services do not provide SMTP info, in these cases,
you should use the information provided by your internet service provider.
Gmail default server settings are listed on the right
in the image shown, AIM Mail server defaults are:
Server: imap.aim.com
Port: 143
Secure: No
SMTP Server: smtp.aim.com
Port: 587
Secure: No
|
 |
 |
Step 5
Since I am using Gmail, I will check off 'I am using Gmail' (A).
This enables two options 'Apply before login' (B)
and 'Apply after login' (C). Due to the way Gmail was designed, emails
aren't actually deleted when you delete them via POP3. They are simply
removed from the list of emails, they are also removed from the listing
when you access or download them. What these two options do, is force
a full refresh of whatever emails you have in your inbox, either before
the login, or after. The recommended setting is 'before login', only set
'after login' if your using another pop3 client to access your gmail account.
(D) Shows that I am using POP3/Gmail to connect, click 'OK' (e) to save
your settings.
|
Step 6
Lets try out Motivation!
First switch over to the uploads panel by clicking 'Uploads' in the bottom
lefthand corner of the window (A).
You can set a part/chunk size in (D) this value is
bytes, after you place the size for the part/chunk make sure you hit the
'Set' (D) button. This is the size that the loaded file will be split
into before uploading. This allows you to upload any size file with ease.
You can set who to send these files to in the recipients box (e), '[me]'
will send it to yourself only, while '[me],tom@domain.com,bob@domain.com'
will send it to yourself and other people. They need to have Motivation
installed in order to restore the file. This is optional, if you only
would like to send the file to yourself, leave the box (e) as-is.
Click the 'Add' button (B) to add a file, a browse window will come up,
you can add any file in any format, of any size.
It will be split into pieces (if needed) and added into the upload listing.
Click 'Upload' (C) to upload the file. It should be uploaded successfully
as long as your settings are correct.
Note: You should set the chunk size and recipients before
adding the files, you cannot modify either of these options once the file
has been added to the upload listing.

 |
Step 7
Switch back over to the 'Downloads' panel (A)
Let a minute or two pass before connecting to the email service in order
for your emails to be delivered.
Now click 'Connect' (B), the files you uploaded should be displayed in
the listing on the right. |
Step 8
Double click a file (A) to download it to your default 'Motivation\Downloads'
directory, when your done click 'Close' (B) to close the connection. |
 |
That's it! That is all there is to using Motivation!
